Seth, our GC, also had reservations about how it would come out, but Thomas was pretty confident that he could be successful. He made some pretty quick headway. It's odd seeing what's behind the panels and molding in an 80+ year-old house.
We just weren't sure what to expect, but after a day's worth of prying, pulling, and banging, it came out in one piece - even the mirror! By 3pm or so Thomas was done with this part. He'll come back tomorrow to start tearing apart the wall itself, but a good day's work.
This was a pretty sure sign that there was no looking back now. As you can see, there will be some floor work that will need to be done.

Interestingly, since I was so leary about how this particular piece would go, and it went very well, I think I have now lost my sense of fear about the whole project. This is going to turn out great!
The built is beautiful and it looks like it came out in good shape. I can't wait to see the kitchen when it is finished.
